About me
Mia Pumo is a Program Manager at MGT Impact Solutions, working directly with education leaders to create environments where educators and students can thrive. Mia works across the country with school and district leaders, instructional coaches, and teachers to design structures that support adult and student learning. With over 28 years of experience teaching and leading, Mia brings valuable expertise, especially in developing coaches in education.
Prior to working with MGT, Mia co-founded of a company in North Carolina with a focus on developing instructional coaches and leaders. She has served in a variety of roles in public schools and non-profit organizations. She worked as a classroom teacher and math curriculum specialist at the elementary level before becoming an instructional coach supporting middle and high school teachers. She was a director of career academy development taking teams of educators on study visits to extraordinary schools across the country.
Mia currently serves on the board of the Positive Education Consortium, a group dedicated to spreading positive education practices to help students and teachers thrive while learning. She also serves on the board of trustees at Hopetree Family Services, an organization that serves families in crisis with an alternative school for students in family transitions.
Mia attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for her undergraduate degree in radio, television, and film. After working in television advertising, she earned her Master’s in Education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She earned her license in school administration at High Point University. She is a national board-certified teacher and is currently pursuing a Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology. Mia published her first book, What Are You Craving? Designing the Life You Were Meant to Live, in 2017.
